P3D three formats
I was showing slides to a couple of friends tonight, relating to
them the recent discussions on P3D about different stereo cameras
and formats, and the "which camera took the picture" contests
(Realist vs. RBT). We happened upon a series of three slides in
my tray which were shot three different ways: fuchsia blossoms
cha-cha with an Olympus OM-10, wild blackberry flower with a Nimslo
and StereoType macro lens, and white pine branches/new needles
with a beamsplitter. All pairs were mounted within the 24X36mm (give or
take a millimeter or two) opening of standard 2X2 full-frame 35mm
slide mounts and viewed in my Pentax beamsplitter viewer attached
to my G.E. Biax fluorescent illuminator. They were expressing amazement
at the lack of any discernible differences, and saying I should run
a contest and see if viewers could tell the difference between
cha-cha, Nimslo, and beamsplitter shots. Buy a Realist? No way--this is
far too much fun!
