I think it is time to leave Mr. Shields alone. We have made all the
offers and he has had heard them. If and when he is ready he will let
us know.
I have dealt with this same situation many times. A prime example
is vertical caving. This is where you use ropes and devices to
descend into and ascend out of a cave. In the 'olden' days this
meant hand-over-hand up and down a manila rope. Then came
rappel devices and Prusik knots. Now we have nylon ropes, fancy
titainium bobbins and mechanical ascenders. Yet there are still
those who refuse to use the new devices no matter how much more
efficient or safe they may be. They, for whatever reason, choose to
do things the way they want and there is nothing wrong with that.
So whether you want to use an RBT or a Loreo, ride a 1934 Harley
or a 2000 Goldwing, or cut your yard with a push reel mower or a
12 horsepower riding mower it just doesn't matter as long as you
are happy and not doing so out of ignorance of other options.
