I remember how we met DrDave. You were using an Owla stereo camera
and a Delta stereo viewer and you sent me a few slides to critique.
At that time you claimed to know a lot and to be a great photographer
(that's what I remember, maybe I was wrong.) My critique was rather
harsh, pointing to some facts, like absence of understanding of the
stereo window, rather soft images, etc. The first step for you was
to upgrade to a better stereo viewer so you can really see how good
(or not good) your images were. The second step was to replace the
Owla which gave smaller images and made correct mounting impossible
and get a Realist.
Instead of remaining closed to your "little system", you were open
to explore other options, show your work, receive criticism for your
work, view other people's work. You were open minded and eager to
improve your work. You continue in this path and look were you are
now!
On the other hand, has anyone seen Mr. Shields' work? Has Mr.
Shields seen anyone else's' work? I don't think so. So, what
kind of knowledge does Mr. Shields has of other options? Not
much from what I can tell. (I might be wrong but there is nothing
suggesting otherwise to me). And, yes, he is happy in his own
world and the ignorance of what else there is around.
