P3D Multiple Glasses Driver
Someone asked about driving multiple liquid crystal glasses, and there were
some good suggestions. I designed a driver for Sega glasses many years ago
so that I could look at sequential field stereo. Experimentally I
discovered that for those glasses a peak to peak square wave of 18 volts at
a (non-critical) 1 kHz did just fine, and I suspect that other systems use
about the same signal---switched appropriately at 60 Hz or whatever frame
rate used. Thus I suspect that most any decent line driver would do the
job. Note that the signal applied to the glasses is ac, i.e., it doesn't
have dc offset.
Someone also suggested an audio amplifier, and I'm sure that that approach
would work just fine, too,----with the warning that generally audio
amplifiers have voltage gain, and one probably should be careful not to
apply too large a voltage swing to the glasses.
