Based upon several years of photographic retailing experience ( and
commercial account sales) I'll offer the list FWIW ( purely
entertainment value) some very true observations concerning " most" (2d)
SLR owners/users. These observations would include novices to
"self-titled" professionals.
1) Most shoot in "program" mode 85% +
2) Most do not use advanced options like exposure comp. Those that do
underexpose snow and overexpose black dogs......wrong!
3) Most believe the brand of film is the single most influencial factor
to successful pictures.
4) Most do not understand DOF 90%+
5) Most ( 90%+) cannot read or use a meter
6) 90%+ cannot tell you the type of meter used in their cameras. (
center weighted, matrix, spot)or what metering options the camera has.
7) Most cannot conclude any information whatsoever by observing a
negative.
8) Most 95%+ do not understand that an 8x10 is a cropped image from a
35mm neg. Please describe " aspect ratio"............NA
9) The blame for poor pictures is levied in the following order: lab
tech, lab machine,bad film,bad battery, bad flash,again...bad
processing,bad chemistry,mishandling of film by lab employee,bad
film,bad camera,bad service,bad store,bad product etc etc...
My answer: Do 2 things, read the manual, and read a book about basic
photography. :-)
10) Most ( 99.9%) have not read and understood the manual for their
camera.
And we want stereo interest to expand?? Please........:-)
