Actually if I were starting over I'd start at Ricohs. Lubitels could
become the next Diana cameras (i.e., out of production plastic camera
sold at ridiculously high prices on ebay). A pair of Ricohflexes or
Rolleicords would be great on a sturdy flash bracket. (I think a pair
of cameras with knob film advance work better than crank advance on a
bracket.) If you can lick the simultaneous shutter firing problem you
can stop right there. If you want a purpose built stereo camera you
could get a Sputnik (same manufacturer as the Lubitel, but the view
finder is much worse (dim, hard to focus)). If you want to spend more
than $10,000 there are cameras available from Italy, Switzerland and
Japan.

I'm lucky. My actually wife encourages my stereo photography. She
thinks it's pretty cool. She tolerates my large format photography,
which usually involves me dragging around a lot of equipment (camera,
tripod, lenses, film, holders, meter, etc.) and spending a lot of time
making one or two exposures.
