P3D Anaglyph novice needs 3D lettering help

Recently I have been have a great deal of fun making anaglyphs on a
PowerMac using PhotoShop 5. I have found Tony Alderson's wed site very
helpful in this regard.
In my own blundering way I have figured out how to add text to the image. I
can even make text appear at different depths within the image, at least I
did once, using "layers".
I'm wondering if anyone has a web site or can explain to me how to create
3D lettering, each letter itself in 3D.
