P3D MOtorola modifications

I have a Motorola carousel viewer that I would like to convert from 110v to
batteries.  I'm afraid that in a party folks would forghet to turn it off, and
the bulbs would burn the slides.

Where can I find a coupe of battery holders, and will the night light holders
fit a decent wattage halogen bulbs?
