To Bob and all,

I have been having all sorts of computer and camera problems tonight,
but finally got a photo of the different TDC projector slide carries up
on the web. You can find it at:

http://WWW2.bitstream.net/~tlmartin/tdcslide.jpg

The top carrier is a 116, next is the modified 716, then a regular 716,
a Selectron changer, and at the bottom a 116 adapter.

Yes, the 116 original carrier is designed very simply and is made of
light weight materials, not at all like the steel of the 716 and
Project-Or-View.

The 716 and the Project-Or-View came out very closely in the mid '50s. I
don't recall which was first, but they do use the same slide carrier.
Well constructed with a nice shutter action to prevent "moving slides on
screen" when the slides are changed.

The Selectron slide tray changer came out later and used the same
shutter action as the 716 changer. An adapter was made for the Selectron
so that it could be used in the 116, but it could also be used to fit a
716 carrier in the 116.

The modified 716 carrier has a thin steel plate on the top for spacing,
and a thicker machined piece on the bottom that looks very close to the
adapter with the two thumb screw fasteners. I am assuming that the work
is all factory done as it is very professional. Also the interior
snorkel on the lenses housing (the sheet metal part, not the cast part)
of the projector does not have a notch in it for the barn door shutter
lever (in fact, the barn door shutter is not there). Probably made
toward the end of production when they were using up parts.

HTH, Tom
