P3D Re: photo labs

I have had some successes and some failures in trying to get photo labs
to make prints for me. As far as willingness to try goes, the really
good professional labs in the greater Cincinnati area rate pretty low.
Cincinnati has a well deserved reputation for provincialism and for being
ultra conservative. This shows up in a "If it isn't standard we don't
want it' attitude. So enlargements of individual frames, which I am
often asked for, are nearly impossible.

But I have had some luck in capturing the imagination of the kids at the
grocery for snap shots. They do a reasonable job, but the good news is
that the lab manager at Thriftway (what Winn Dixie calls itself around
here) informed me that he had procured a half frame mask for my Nimslo
prints and that he was working on getting a 127 mask for my Realist
format negatives.

All this and good rye bread too.
