P3D TDC Vivid Light Leak?
- From: George Themelis <gthemelis@xxxxxxxxx>

Bruce brought up the issue of an unusual flare problem in his
TDC Vivid which apparently is common in these cameras. My
friend Dennis has a TDC Vivid showing this flare and signs of a
light leak. We decided to investigate the location of the leak,
using the trick of the light bulb inside the camera which has
proven very useful in finding leaks in Realist cameras (see
previous discussions in P3d - also there is a picture of the
battery & bulb assembly in my Realist book)
Conclusion: There is a location where light can leak into the
camera. This is by the camera back hinge in the side of the
film canister. Now, some people claim that light leak problems
are impossible to originate from this area because the film is
still in the canister. That might explain the flare-type of the
leak. It appears that this door hinge is a weak point in the
TDC Vivid. The next step is to use a piece of black tape to
block the leak and see if that takes care of the problem.
