I'm not sure that a mere 30%, or even a 50%, increase in brightness
would make enough difference to be worth the cost. Is there any way you
could make a deal with the theater to reduce the brightness of its house
lights between shows? If they don't use a dimmer that can be limited to
a lower maximum brightness, maybe some bulbs could be removed from the
house lights closest to the screen or even throughout the room. At lest,
this wouldn't cost anything and could result in a much more effective
solution than trying to increase image brightness in an already bright
room.
