P3D Knocked Off the Ladder Again

Here I was, all rosy in the glow of my new-found optimism about the
wonderful world of choices opening before us, and I got snookered again.
Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Snapshot still rule the world, making us all live in
the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Shot a roll of marching band parade shots two weeks ago, on a beautiful
day with my slide film of choice. Got right in the action, as safety and
courtesy would allow, pushing the Realist stereo window, running here and
there to get the best angles - nearly got flattened by a sweaty young man
with a Sousaphone. Then I dropped off my film at the same place I put my
last stereo roll. Sure they had sent that one back rolled tighter than a
Tru-Vue strip, but I can handle that. The important thing is that someone
followed my instructions "Process Only. Do NOT cut or mount."

I did the same this time, carefully checking the box marked slides and
writing "E6" beside it. Today I picked up that envelope and a big orange
band with the word "ATTENTION!" was wrapped around it.

Inside I found my lovely shots, uncut and unmounted, in a fruity sort of
negative color scheme. My film entered the Aunt Tillie's Vacation Prints
maw and got mangled. No charge! I know expecting my transparency film to
be processed as transparency film was unreasonable - the free market can't
be expected to reliably cater to my exacting professional standards.
There's a mob to be pandered to. I have learned. It's OK because they
gave me a nice roll of replacement film of another brand with no images on
it yet, so I guess I'm obliged to forgive and forget, again. (If the bell
curve is slipping down the scale, no problem, just adjust the scale down.)

So I need help again from my upbeat friends. I suspect a learning
opportunity is here. What shall I do with my strip of hermaphroditic
slide/negs? I'll do whatever the majority suggests, in the spirit of our
great democracy - within the limits of budget, decency and anatomy.

Your hopeful correspondent,
Bruce (When ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise.) Springsteen
