I use that type of marker to write on CDs and glass surfaces. Text stays
sharp for a long time. 

Sometimes I mess up and need to rewrite the text. The ones that I use
are alcohol soluable. You can remove the markings from a non-porous
surface with rubbing alcohol or more easily with denatured alcohol. You
can also get them in colors at Office Depot in MD.
