On the more practical side, suppose one is in fact stuck
with stereo images of unequal size and wants to make the
best of the situation. One approach would be to align
objects at the bottom and let the objects at the top fall
where they will. If there is a significant amount of sky
at the top of the scene, the image size difference might
go undetected.
But what if the scene contains distinct objects from top
to bottom? It seems to me it would be less strain on the
eyes to vertically align some object in the middle of the
scene, so that the size difference is split in two, and
falls half above and half below the center.
Thoughts on whether this is good or bad reasoning?
