P3D filters for black and white photography

Hi. As fall color season is winding down, I may want to get around to
trying some black and white photography. I bought some print film to
start with but may also try some slides in the future. Anyway, my
question is about what filters are useful for b & w and what each type
does. I understand that both yellow and red filters tend to darken skies
and accentuate clouds. How about the old orange "color correction"
filters? I would guess that they might also be useful. Advice
