P3D FED back problems

Hi!
My newly acquired FED turns out to have back problems. :-\
It appears that the back is a bit too long, and also the lip
on the film advance end is not quite straight. For this reason,
whenever the back is moved to the right, the film advance end
pops off. I think this would be aggravated by having film in
it--as the film moved, it would tend to pull the back to the
right with it.
I am familiar with its reputation, and got it for a good price,
so I'm not complaining. I'm generally pleased with the camera
otherwise.
I have my own ideas about how to fix it, but would appreciate
hearing from anyone who has had this problem and overcome it.
Straightening the lip is one thing, which I know I must do
carefully. On the other end, if I can put thicker felt or a
shim between the back and the body, it would prevent motion
to the right. In fact, so long as I keep the back pressed to
the left, it stays closed nicely.
Thanks for any thoughts you may have!
Mark Shields
