P3D Meeting Mr. Shields
>Today it was my privilege to have a personal meeting with
>Dr. T himself, to look at each other's slides, and for me
>to see a large variety of viewers and cameras.
The privilege was all mine! I was curious to see the pictures
that Mark Shields was taking about in P3d. And I was not
disappointed! These were taken with various beamsplitters and
a Nimslo camera. They were all mounted in single mounts to be
viewed with a Pentax beamsplitter viewer, lighted by a small
fluorescent tube. They are great pictures! Obviously Mark
knows what he is doing. He is not satisfied with mediocre
shots but wants the best. And the best is what he gets! I'd
say we are lucky that Mark is working in this rather unpopular
format. If he ever decides to mount his slides in 41x101
mounts, we are all in trouble!!! (yes, Mark Dottle, we are!!!)
I was talking to Mark & Mark about the possibility of having a
stereo projection some time in the near future and put the
seeds for a stereo club in Pittsburgh. If any p3d members are
from Pittsburgh, or near by, and are interested in this idea,
please let us know.
>Stereo photography is a rare pursuit which attracts people
>who are both highly knowledgeable technically and personally
>very charming and even charismatic.
This is certainly true for Mark!!!
