Remember that these discussions of adjusting the stereo window in
mounting do *not* apply to the Viewmaster Personal, since film chip
position is not adjustable in Personal reels, hence the window is fixed
and is a function of the camera specs. I am not sure what that distance
is with a Personal, but your subject/near point must have been closer
than that "window".

On Realist slides, the default "window" is at 7 feet (I think) if you
just mount the chips in a heat seal mount where the tabs are without
adjusting the chips closer together or further apart (which would mask
the edges of the images with the slide mount openings). If your subject
is closer than the predetermined (by the camera) "window" distance, then
it will appear to "come through" the window unless adjustments are made
in mounting. "Through the window" can be a nice special effect but
generally only if the near object is in the center of the frame and
doesn't touch the edges of the "window". Many people adjust the window
with each slide depending on how close the nearest object is, such that
the nearest object appears to be just behind the "window". -Linda
