P3D Back from Baltimore
You wonder where I've been hiding all this time??? I was in a 4 day
trip to Baltimore, to attend a professional (non 3d unfortunately)
conference. In my spare time betweem lunches and dinners I shot 9
rolls of film (yes, you read that right... my output is measured
in rolls per hour, not years, not months, not even days! - I only had
a few good hours with my stereo cameras so I was shooting at the rate
of 3 rolls/hour or so) I also mounted 5 rolls in Albion mounts and
remounted the best in RBT mounts. In the meanwhile I learned a lot of
good Metallurgy, so it was a very productive trip in all respects!
The highlight of my visit to Baltimore was meeting Emil Volcheck, a
stereo enthusiast and quiet member of p3d. We had a fascinating
discussion and shared a lot stereo pictures. Got to see the latest
APEC exchange. It's great!
While I was in Baltimore I also found some time to think about a few
important issues in stereo photography. To connect with the math vs.
intuition discussion, some people learn by doing the math and others
by seeing pictures, experimenting, etc. The big challenge for me is
to explain a concept without using any math or equations. Just in
simple intuitive terms. This is a difficult task if you have an
engineering/mathematical background. I'll come back to this in a
while....
