I hope someone with more knowledge of the process will respond, but here's
my understanding. To make a Stereojet print both sides of a stereo pair are
seperately printed as tranparencies, and these transparencies are sandwiched
together with alternating sheets of polarized film. When you look through
polarized glasses, each eye sees the correct image in a manner similar to
stereo polarized projection. When I first saw a StereoJet print I was
surprised that it wasn't neccessary to back-light the print to view it.
>From what I gather there are still some technical hurdles to overcome before
this process is readily available. If it ever becomes practical to publish
books with StereoJet images it will be a great opportunity to present the
works of 3D artists to the general public. I'd want to buy a StereoJet book
of images by Lynn or Boris Starosta, and I'd also buy a few copies as gifts
for people who would never bother with books that have folding viewers built
in. (Not that I don't love those books, many of which I own.) Jim Harp
