P3D noise in TDC Vivid projector

Hi,
	The fan on my recently aquired TDC Vivid Deluxe 716 projector sounds like
a jet engine at full power.  However, after a cleaning and oiling, I
noticed that the fan sound is reduced quite a bit, especially when I tested
the fan outside of the projector housing (to noise associated with air
movement).  As the housing is cast iron, the noise is amplified (ie. quite
loud) when everything is reassembled.

Has anyone tried lining the inside of the projector housing with a sound
dampining material?  I was thinking of going down to the Radio Shack
tomorrow and getting some speaker batting.  (if they still sell it).  Oh
well, I guess I'll never complain about the kodak projector fan noise again.
