There is no single viewing distance with the View Magic system.
With 3 inch tall prints, I was able to easily view the images
over a range of 4 to 12 inches with the PV4000. The economy
stand for the View Magic does fix the viewer at a specific
distance. (Sorry, I don't have the measurement handy.)

The PV6x6 is designed to accommodate a wide range of print sizes
and viewing distances. You can view 8 inch wide prints from a
distance of 1-2 feet. Larger prints are viewed from a greater
distance. For example, 11 inch wide prints are viewed from a
distance of 2-3 feet and 16 inch wide prints are viewed from a
distance of 5-6 feet. The company notes that the ability to
free-view stereo pairs will expand the range of useful viewing
distances even further.
