I was just trying to get your attention! Glad to see that you
are reading my long postings!

Seriously, his pictures looked very good. Very sharp, crisp,
clear. Maybe not better than my S1 :-) but clearly in the same
league. Definitely better than the RBT X4's pictures.

One complicating factor: He was using Kodachrome (not sure if
it was 64 or 25, I'd guess 64), I was using Fuji Sensia II. I
could see that his pictures had a cooler color balance than
mine. Maybe there were other factors related to film that
complicate the comparison between the camera systems.

One more thing to consider: Most of these shots were indoors
with flash and an aperture of f11 for 100 ASA film. Comparing
lenses at f11 is good for the "inferior" lens. The Realist 2.8
is not an inferior lens by any means but how does it hold at
5.6, or 4 or 2.8? When I was using the Realist I was staying
away from wide apertures. Now I use them all the time with the
S1. There are other factors too but these are the most
important IMO.

To make things worse (for me!) he was asking the models to do
"funny poses". He had models look through a red button Realist
viewer. Turning their heads so their hair is caught in mid air.
Taking poses optimised for 3d. I was too embarassed to do
that. So his pictures are more creative. That's where the
photographer comes in... which can be a more important factor
than the lens. Don't want to be too philosophical here but
there are more rewards in putting effort to take better pictures
with existing equipment than putting effort to get better equipment.
