  I believe that Jon Golden still sends
out free RBT slide mount samples for those
who ask. If so you may want to get them
and then you can easily see what a well
mounted slide looks like and play with
the stereo window by sliding the film
chips together or apart using the RBT's
tracks.

  Then if/when you get some other types
of mounts (aluminum or paper) you can
compare.  I believe Reel-3D sells a
sample kit of their various mounts.
And the Spicer paper mounts are cheap
enough that you can afford to buy a
couple of types from RMM.
