P3D Define Today's Consumer

What do most consumers want today? ( from any product for that matter)
They want low price, marginal quality, simple convenience, and results
right out of the box. They expect to skim over the manual ( or throw it
away). Self-explanatory " I can figure this out in a few minutes"
ergonomically designed items with little or no consumer expectation to
self educate. Hence....born...the APS camera!
Pay more, get less quality....that's the consumer way!! At least that's
what the consumers are telling the mfgrs. APS ( and most products) are
the result of extensive marketing research of which consumers are the
voice. It's no wonder that 110 cameras still outsell digital cameras.
When digital cameras offer 300DPI at $99.95 and the paper and inks are
priced as low as film, then the consumer will be willing to abandon film
in favor of a lousy print that can be made right at home! Believe
me......I've been in the consumer electronics/camera market for way to
long and I've predicted trends with 100%accuracy so far. My last
prediction was that DVIX would die and I can't seem to find that Circuit
City store manager who bet me $100 that DVIX would replace sliced
bread!:-)
Mark Dottle
prediction: on a "per-unit" basis 110 cameras will outsell digital
cameras this year! :-)
