P3D Print stereo viewer for $ 1700......

I have just returned from a photographica fair here in Holland where I
spoke with 2 persons I had only e-mailed with until now. 

Very remarkable this time was the interest for View-Master items (and
this time not only MEN were interested...)

An English dealer had a very solid stereo print viewer for sale with
rather big lenses which could be moved on a rail. It looked rather
simple. I asked for the price of the device, answer : DM 3000.- (German
Mark) that is about $ 1700.-..............
I (and an other Dutchman who was listening ) could not hide our
indignation, but that is perhaps not the right reaction....
The device was NOT made of gold but of cast iron. Do I miss here
something?
