I fully agree with Robert's response.  If you look back in the
history of photography you will see that one format has replaced
another, not for the better quality but for convenience. 
Examples: Glass negatives/transparencies being replaced by
plastic flexible film.  Larger formats being replaced by smaller
formats.  Digital technology will not match the quality of
viewing medium format transparencies in a back-lit viewer.  But
not many people will worry about it.  For the same reason that
those who shoot smaller formats or work with prints do not seem
to worry about not working with MF transparencies.
