P3D Re: stereoscopic animated hypercube

A decade or so ago, a friend of mine of limited means and unlimited
imagination (the man who sparked my interest in geometric art) twisted the
arm of a computer geek friend and together they generated a series of
animated wire-frame projections of several basic 4-space figures,
including the hypercube, rotating and tumbling in 4-space and 3-space.
The display was designed so that a left and right image could be viewed
stereoscopically by holding a mirror vertically and perpendicular to your
face, between the eyes, and viewing one or the other image reversed to
facilitate stereo fusion (hard to describe, but many of you know the
technique). His inspiration was the work of a man name Thomas Banchoff.

I somehow came to be in posession of a video tape they made from the
computer screen, with titles - and the whole thing is really very good, in
a home-spun kind of way. I am ashamed to admit that I don't know why I
still have it, except I seem to recall the owner telling me not to worry
about it, to keep it as long as I like. I think his VCR is broken anyway.

Bruce
