P3D processing woes

This reminds me of an incident I had awhile back. I took a roll of E-6
to the local lab to be developed only and not cut. A few hour later I
got a call, and they told me that the film turned out totally clear. I
asked if it was the just the frames or was the entire film clear. They
said it was the entire film and that maybe I had a light leak. They told
me that there wouldn't be a charge. I never bothered to pick up the film
but wish I had. How could an entire roll turn out completely clear? I
would have had to pull the entire length of the film out of the cassette
accidentally and forgotten about it. That camera never had problems
before or after.  I'll always think something fishy happened..
