P3D Extreme Realists, and a bit of good luck...

There's been some discussion of taking the Realist into harsh enviroments.
Here's a good tip (i know I've mentioned it before..) Get one of the
insulated jackets made to fit a 1 litre Nalgene water bottle , these are
for skiers and climbers, so their water doesn't freeze (quickly). They fit
a Realist nicely, with lots of padding, and a bit of room left over for
extra film, or a light meter. I climb with a Realist, and take it
cross-country skiing. I never worry that it's going to get bashed up.
(although it did suffer a cracked lens cover when it got tossed in the
back of a helicopter- so there are limits, I guess.) I usually keep it in
a ziplock bag inside the bottle jacket, in case of dunkings, or heavy
rain.
As for the luck, my friend phoned me the other day to tell me that there
was "some kind of 3d viewer" at the local Goodwill. From his description,
I figured out that it was a TDC Project-or-View! I skipped off work, and
after parting with 20 hard-earned Canadian dollars, it was mine. I'm lucky
to have such friends!
