Sure, it's usable, but the colored ESTAR base alone makes it a second-class
choice.

No, not really popular yet. MACO targets the high-end b/w market with
unique products (such as their films, lith printing stuff, archival
print washers, etc.).

Not yet. I was also asking for the curve. According to their head
of the photo division, the film is currently being investigated at
two universities. (It's very well suited for scientific applications
due to its anti-halation layer and the fact that the only other 4x5"
film - Kodak HSI - was just withdrawn from the market.)

I already got a product number for the Kodak kit (sorry, not at hand).
(If you want to buy such a thing, you have to proove that it exists -
Kodak and their dealers aren't very well informed about their own
products ;-)

Tetenal hasn't announced their new kit yet, but I think the info that
they will do so soon is on good authority. (BTW: The old kit was
withdrawn from the market due to environmental regulations.)

<sigh> So much new stuff to try ... ;-)
