It uses a shaped mirror to both magnify the image make it so both eyes
see it. The effect is not 3D in my opinion. Unfortunately the diffuser
for the light is located where the viewers forehead is so it is
difficult to get good lighting (unless you are wearing a lighted miner's
helmet ;-)
