I've seen enough cases of items starting at $1 and being bid
over, say $200, while an identical item listed with a starting
bid of $200 goes ignored. It's the nature of auctions, IMO, and
I don't hold it against a seller for listing an item at $1. A
*reasonable* reserve on a valuable item seems like justifiable
protection against bad luck on the timing of the listing.
The sellers I avoid are those who blare "NO RESERVE!!!" while
listing an item with a high initial bid--often above recent
high bid prices for the same item.
Just my non-expert opinions.....
