The camera itself is a simple, 35mm fixed exposure- fixed focus camera, with
built-in beamsplitter and simple meniscus lens. Is no more than a toy, but
in the US it was offered by Dalia Miller and Reel-3d at about $75, in UK by
the Widescreen at about £90 (US$135!). In RMM web you'll find a page about
Loreo modifications (some friends of mine did the modification, and say they
are satisfied; I already own 6 stereo cameras and 3 beamsplitters, so I
don't care). I bought my Loreo here, in continental Europe at $50, because I
wanted the stereoscope, that alone is worth that money. The camera works
fairly in daylight (aperture is f/18, so you've better loading it with
400ASA). With flash is on, aperture switches to f/11 and depth of field
dramatically decreases. Flash is weak, so consider you can use the camera
from 3.5 to 6.5 ft distant subjects. You can't shoot flash pics of great
grops, 'cause the 25mm lens covers a narrow angle (think of 50mm on vertical
24x36 frame). Of course, you won't shoot slides (fixed exposure!) nor do
enlargements (poor optics) but the camera does well it's work as a simple
plastic snapshotter you can carry around every day, everywhere. Don't ask it
for more!
