I have been 11 years in this hobby and never felt this way. We
have a simple point of reference. Our two eyes and they way
they are fixed in our heads. Most stereo cameras have two
lenses spaced about the same distance as the average pair of
eyes. Most people want to record pictures to represent what
they see, most of the time. This is the point of reference.
And from there there is a whole new world to explore.

So, get over it! "Ortho" is the point of reference and
everything else is named and measured depending on how it
deviates from this point. When I show stereo images to various
people they usually ask things like "why does this look like a
toy-model?" "Why are the faces of these people stretched?".
They never ask "Why does that look like I would see it with my
bare eyes?"
