P3D tripods (digest 3655)

I previously quoted George's post to digest 3655 (alright, I'm a little
behind!):

<< You will also need a tripod to support the slide bar. You can
find a cheap one (you only need a cheap lightweight one) for
less than $10. >>

I must flat out disagree with this. Cheap lightweight tripods only
contribute to false sense of security, and are a waste of your time and
money. Its much better to save up for a little while & buy a substantial
tripod that can last your (photographic) lifetime, than a series of
decreasingly inferior tripods.

In my experience, there is no such thing as a "Too Big" tripod, or a "Too
Powerful" flash.

in maryland.
