This became more of a problem when the adhesive changed
from a dark green to a light blue. At first, what I did
was darken the edges of the opening with a black marker.
This was quite time consuming. Up until now, I had been
mounting with the larger opening toward the observer.
Now, when I use heat seal mounts, I mount with the chips
facing downward, right image on the left, left image on
the right. You can still check the window in this
position. I then seal the mount and view it from the
former bottom. The perforations are no longer noticeable.
Heat seal mounts are not totally opaque, but are cheap
and can be easy to use.
