P3D Take the Pledge

Now I'm learning, on and off list, that people are busy doing all kinds of
3D stuff that has them nearly exhausted, and fingers are pointing
everywhere but at ourselves.

OK, before this spins into a full-scale revival of exotic Cobra and
Mongoose routines we've seen before (Vaudeville is dead folks!), let me
state my position one more time, and put some teeth in it. "Stereoscopy"
appears to need more contributions of an appropriate nature from the
membership, and I am hearing a lot of agreement in public and private.
The principal responsibility for this is with the members - the problem
predates the current editorship. Everyone is busy, but when there is a
need, we must stand ready to reprioritize a little. So consider the
following.

***
I, [your name here], do here before the assembled members of P3D, promise
to produce an article on the subject of [your thing here] for
consideration for publication by the editors of "Stereoscopy", to be
presented to them for said consideration within the next [number no more
than 12] months. If I neglect to fulfill this pledge, may all my shutters
stick the day the space aliens stop in my backyard for a barbecue.

Here is a completed example:

I, Bruce Springsteen, do here before the assembled members of P3D, promise
to produce an article on the subject of stereoanamorphic drawings (aka
"Phantograms", free-standing anaglyphs, book anaglyphs) for consideration
for publication by the editors of "Stereoscopy", to be presented to them
for said consideration within the next six months. If I neglect to
fulfill this pledge, may all my shutters stick the day the space aliens
stop in my backyard for a barbecue.

There, I feel much better now. I invite, no, dare you to join me in the
pool, as the water is fine. Especially any of you who decline to comment
in the crucible of P3D, for fear of being ignored or abused. Not everyone
enjoys a mosh pit, I know.

My pledge, when fulfilled, will also be an example of using P3D to gestate
material for publication elsewhere, as it will be a modified version of
some large posting I did about a year ago. I don't pretend it will be
original or expert information, just one member's attempt to get something
going. I could use a qualified volunteer to assist me along the way in
making my style conform to the standards of good expository writing in a
dignified international milieu, including locating references to any who
have gone before me in this area, and to critique my poor mathematical
expression, all to minimize the work that the editors may have to do
before publication, should they accept my scribblings.

In a side note, though we seem to have misplaced Bob Aldridge along the
way, you may have notice we gained a Bob recently. Robert J. Vaughan has
joined the maillist and been posting some very nifty material of a
practical nature, based on his lengthy experience devising modifications
and gear for his stereo equipment. You may have noticed it in a very
polite thread running parallel to this one. Bob is the newest member of
the Kansas City Metro Photographer's Association Stereo Division, now
meeting here in Lawrence, Kansas. He is very skilled and gentlemanly, and
I am proud to have found him here - I hope his demeanor will serve as
compensation for my own. So we are currently maintaining our Bob quota
with the usual quality material.

I'm now bowing out of the ISU discussion, having said all I have the wit
to say. I have to prepare a stereo window presentation for the next club
meeting, and must begin to think about my article. Best to you all.

Bruce (Take the Pledge!) Springsteen
