P3D love (& pulfrich) can build a bridge

I don't know about NTSC, but PAL television is claimed as unsuitable for
anaglyphs, so in Italy 3d broadcasts are rarer than eclypses.
I wasn't a fan of american country music, so I never heard of the Judds
before reading of their 3d "Pulfrich" video "love can build a bridge".
Recently a friend from holostereoitali@xxxxxxxxxxx posted about Pulfrich TV
shows in Germany and maid me curious, so I purchased from the USA a VHS
cassette featuring the Judds' video and displaying the work needed to
prepare it.
I realized I had many wrong opinions (not only about music) because I didn't
believed Pulfrich effect could lead to interesting results: watching the
video I realized that relatively slow continous sidewise camera panning can
perform deep & hard-impact 3d effect. I was also wrong when I referred to
Pulfrich-3d as "pseudo-stereoscopy": in fact when camera keeps panning and
perception from one eye is retarded, our brain "sees" 2 different frames at
the same time, mean a "true" stereo pair.
But Pulfrich filming is quite a tricky job: it needs accurate planning &
direction, hundreds yards of railroad and a lot of afterwork. In the Judds'
video some short scenes kept busy an helicopter for many hours, so I don't
dare to figure myself the final cost. Anyway the spectacular effect is
amazing.
Ciao!
