P3D Twin SLR questions

Time for me to upgrade my twin 35mm SLR rig.
John Roll indicates to me that he's never seen better shutter sync than out
of his Minolta rig. I know some people on P3D use Minoltas, but which
models meet my needs?
Yashicas are used by RBT in some of their Siamesed cameras, and they allow
the use of the superb Contax (Zeiss) optics. My local pro shop recommends
I get Yashicas for this reason.
Canon Rebels have been mentioned here, also. But I am wary of
durability/reliability issues.
Here's what I want from the cameras:
Electronic or electric release with twin camera release, to maximize
shutter synchronization.
Electric wind and rewind.
Prefer access to batteries not from bottom.
Do not prefer auto focus.
Auto exposure would be nice, but only if master/slave arrangement is
possible (aperture priority).
Cost is an issue.
Any advice from the camera cognoscenti?
Boris
