OK so we've had our latest justified Kodak mounting problems venting
session. now I've got a query for those who've been sending stuff to A&I
for processing, particularly with their mailers from DC, like me. I've
sent four rolls to them, two in late 99 and two in January, and one has
come back.
A&I claims not to have received the other three. Now, of course, the easy
solution here is to blame the post office. All four rolls went through
the DC post office, though at different branches (Roll #3 didn't go to the
original post office after that office's 0 for 2 performance. rolls 3 and
4 were shipped in different mailers but from the same post office at the
same time. Only one got to A&I. Odd, since I'd guess they'd have gone in
the same mailbag...). But the funny thing is, not a single other pice of
mail (including scads of checks) has failed to reach its destination.
These are the only three that have failed. I never had a package fail to
get to Kodak, though that was from Chicago, another city not known for
postal efficiency. (Though things are much better now than ten years ago.)
So my suspicious side says, what if it isn't the post office? Unusual to
say the least that the only thing they lose for me is film mailers...
I've got five mailers left for A&I, and the roll that did come back looks
good with the naked eye (haven't had time to mount it yet) but I'm now
paranoid about putting my kodachrome in the mail. This has pretty much
stopped my stereo photography...no use taking pictures when you never get
to see them. :( I could send the remaining mailers certified, but that's
not cost effective...For the extra $3 I can just dump the film off at a
local lab for them to ship to Kodak or whoever.
Anyone else had similar problems?
