You're singing to the choir! Ever since Eastman Kodak spun-off their
processing labs to their subsidiary Qualex, the quality has not been there.
I, too, have called them to verify services, etc. Here's the problem: You'll
get one story today, and another story tomorrow.
Get this line they pulled on me: I sent some color print film to them for
standard develop and print (4x6) that I shot with my Loreo/Argus camera. As
many of you know, that camera produces pairs of exposures that together are
contained on one *standard* 24x36mm frame. From the lab's point of view,
these are merely standard 35mm 24x36mm exposures, right?
Kodak/Qualex did a half crappy job printing many of the prints, so when I
sorted the negatives to return them for re-dos, what did I see, much to my
astonishment? They film cutter had sliced and diced my negatives. Even
though there the distance between the frames was just a clear as that taken
with any other 35mm camera, Kodak/Qualex managed to permanently damage my
film by cutting about 1/8" into several of the exposures.
I sent the whole order back. What was their reply?
They are not responsible for it because "it's stereo".
They returned my order to me. They did not refund my money for the damaged
processing. I swear, I am not joking. Totally clueless (and faultless)
imbeciles work at Qualex's San Ramon, California lab.
