The first thing to do with this camera is to take the back off and then
repeatedly fire the shutter at all speeds while looking through the
camera from behind into a strong light source. If the shutter is hanging
up you should be able to detect it and at what shutter speeds it is
malfunctioning. 
This should give you some sort of preliminary diagnosis as to the
problem.
