Nahhh... junk. :-) I do not remember the lenses to be coated.
Be careful with the "doublet" issue. Doublet usually means two
single-element lenses per eyepiece. Viewers that have doublet
lenses include the VM model D, the Airequipt and now the
Sterling. Doublet lenses are generally better than
single-element lenses (provide higher magnification with decent
eye relief) but not as good (or expensive) as achromats. They
snow annoying chromatic aberration. In addition, since they are
not airtight (usually) they tend to fog and you need to take
them apart to clean. The Sterling is definitely a much cheaper
(in all respects) viewer than the Realist, Revere, Kodaslide II,
etc.
