P3D twin SLR pentax ZX-M x2

Wlad (and everyone):
I aquired my twin pentax bodies (ZX-M), wired up a connector cable (very
simply without diodes - out of forgetfulness, mainly), and shot a session
with it Saturday. The cameras appeared to perform flawlessly. The film
came back, and sync was good (although, I must admit, the subject was
fairly static).
I will report more on sync as opportunity permits me to take moving subjects.
One rather grave problem revealed itself however, as I tried to move the
session to flash photography. The cameras were unable to trigger my flash
via sync cord.
In debugging, I measured the resistance across the hot shoe. When the
shutter was open, the resistance fell to 300 Ohms. My old K1000s would
have the resistance fall to zero - something I thought was standard -
simply a circuit being closed.
Is it normal to have this high resistance across the sync circuit in modern
cameras? If so, how can I get my strobe kit to trigger, when it apparently
expects a zero (or at least lower) resistance across the trigger circuit?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Boris
