Yes, at least in my TDC 116 and whatever all the exhibitions I have 
entered use (but remember these are also mounted with a piece of 
glass between the mount and the bulbs.)

I have not done any of the extensive heat tests that Dr. T. and others 
have done, but I have left a silver mylar taped Spicer mounted 
Ektachrome image in a 500 watt TDC 116 for several minutes with 
no apparent problems. Remember that the silver mylar tape is 
made for masking film and therefore assumed to be heat resistant. 
It is my opinion that the film will melt long before the glue on the tape 
will.

I have never figured this out except that it may be a guide for 
labeling as it is on the front. Speaking of this - Paul already stated 
this - there is a front and a back to the Spicer mount. The front has 
a smaller window with slightly rounded corners and the back has 
larger window apertures and square corners. Please, please mount 
your chips correctly!
