I suspect the makers of the blue mounts and the green
mounts are the same--they just changed the glue. I liked
dark green because they seemed more opaque. But then
I found that both green and blue heat-seal mounts were
susceptible to quality control problems: the bottom edge
of the cutout, and therefore of the window, was not exactly
parallel to the bottom edge of the mount, so the mounted
pair was viewed or projected with a slight rotational
displacement of the window (one window edge was lower
than the other) That could be fixed in projection by
adjusting the vertical, but in a viewer it was uncomfortable.
And projection using more than one batch of mounts
required repeated adjustment.
I'd been using heat-seals for years, but when I became
sensitive to the difference between average mounting and
precision mounting, I found the deteriorating quality
control in successive batches of heat-seal purchases was
not tolerable. I switched to Spicer mounts, exchanged
my clothes-iron sealer for a bottle of Elmer's glue, and
have been happy ever since. (Lots faster, too!)
