P3D Re: Author! Author!

Shab Levy is what we in show biz call "a class act", and it it reflected
in the quality and care evident in the new SSA yearbook.  Each page is a
wonderful profile of a different active stereographer - and I do mean
different!  What a fabulous variety of people, histories and approaches,
from Abrahams to Zone.  It was a pleasure to see the faces of Gamma
folio-mates, APEC-pals, P3Denizens, and other stereoactive personages,
either again or for the first time.  So that's what Grant Campos looks
like, in the great outdoors he clearly loves!  Nice to see Jack
Swarthout's friendly face again, Harry Richards lurking in the trees, John
Dennis relaxing with some light reading.  Got a gander at Bill Walton's
birthplace, and the entire Themelis gang gathered in the kitchen,
fidgeting for the photographer.

One of my favorite writers in stereo is Norman (Bill) Patterson who does
the regular Society news in "Stereo World".  His thoughtful, amusing and
articulate commentary there made me eager to read his history of SSA in
the front of the yearbook. No disappointment - it is fascinating, thorough
and excellent in every way.

Shab's page design, and care given to showing each person's images to best
advantage are a complete success, to my eyes.  I am amazed when I page
through and imagine the work this must have taken.

My copy will never have any collector value, because it will be
well-thumbed and worn from regular use.  My only complaint is the small
sample of 75 members who chose to take part, out of about 160.  That's a
shame.  But it is a good sample nevertheless!  Some people missed the
boat, I'm afraid...

Thanks Shab, it was well worth the wait.
