P3D Stereo Mini-Course--St. Matthew

Mark and Karen Dottle came to St. Matthew Lutheran School in
Pittsburgh today to present a stereo photography mini-course.
Mark Shields, now principal at St. Matthew, set up the mini-course,
one of many offered on Thursday and Friday of National Lutheran
Schools Week. Two smaller groups enjoyed looking at slides from
Mark and Mark in viewers and seeing different stereo cameras:
Realist, RBT, FED, XA2 twin rig, Nimslo and Pentax beamsplitter.
Meanwhile Karen was taking slides of them, using the XA2 twin rig.
Each group went outside with single-use cameras to take pictures
using the cha-cha method. Karen rushed the film to the lab down the
street. After lunch Mark D. set up a projector, screen, and light
box. Both groups came together, and he first showed them some of his own
slides. (It's a good thing that dog was on a leash,
Mark!) When the film came back from the lab he was furiously
mounting for quite some time. The kids were thrilled to see
themselves on the silver screen, especially when their single-use
cameras (at arm's length) poked out through the window! Mark D. put
favorite slides into SV-1 viewers for them to take home, and each
one also got a Reel-3D lorgnette viewer to view prints taped
together (from the single-use cameras--couldn't really call it
"mounting"  :-)  ) into a stereo pair.
